Performance of Morton Feldmans “Rothko Chapel” with the SWR Vocal ensemble in the 1000 year old Speyer cathedral
You can watch Andra Darzins’ appearance at the Schwetzinger SWR Festspiele online now. The video was recorded at a concert on May 25th 2017 in Speyer, with the SWR Vokalensemble (conductor: Marcus Creed) performing works by Bruckner, Ives, Feldman and Pärt. Andra Darzins’ solo in “Rothko Chapel” by Morton Feldman can be watched in the video below.
Two CD releases in 2015
Andra Darzins released two new CDs in 2015. „Viola Concertos“ came out in December with the label cpo, the album „Reflections“ was released in May.

New CD release “Viola Concertos” with Urban Camerata
Together with the ensemble Urban Camerata Andra Darzins has recorded and released three concertos by Franz Anton Hoffmeister, Carl Stamitz and Michael Haydn on the CD label CPO. The CD is available at jpc.
Andra Darzins founded this young ensemble and works not only as a soloist with the Urban Camerata but also as a conductor. In November 2015 the Urban Camerata performed works from Grieg, Genzmer, Tchaikovsky and Barber in the concert series “St. Antonius Autumn Concerts“.

Concert highlight in New York
A highlight in 2015 was giving a concert, together with pianist Ventis Zilberts, for the Latvian president Vejonis and invited guests at the UN embassy of Latvia in New York. This concert was one of seven recitals together with pianist Prof. Ventis Zilberts in September in cities along the East Coast of the USA.
CD “America” awarded the Prize of the German Record Critics
The CD „America“ on which Andra Darzins plays the solo viola in Morton Feldmans „Rothko Chapel“ together with the SWR Vocal Ensemble under Marcus Creed was recently awarded the Prize of the German Record Critics.

Andra Darzins has been accepted as one of 5 candidates to take part in a conductor’s course with conductor Christopher Seaman and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra from 9-13.8. 2015.
Hoffmeister & Stamitz Viola Concertos
Andra Darzins has just signed a contract with the internationally recognized label CPO ( Classic Production Osnabrück), who were awarded a Grammy in 2015.
Her recording of the viola concertos of Hoffmeister and Stamitz and of the concerto for organ, viola and strings by Michael Haydn with the “Urban Camerata” will be released by CPO this year. ( with organ soloist Prof. Jürgen Essl)
In this recording Andra Darzins is both viola soloist and director/conductor of the orchestra,with which further projects are planned for November.
St. Antonius Herbstkonzerte
This year in November the St. Antonius Autumn Concerts of which Andra Darzins is the artistic director, will celebrate their 8th season. Concerts in the St. Antonius church in Stuttgart/Zuffenhausen will take place on the 8th, 15th and 22nd of November. As in last years concerts, once again a concert with the chamber orchestra “Urban Camerata” under the direction of Andra Darzins is programmed.
US-Tour
In September and October 2015 Andra Darzins has been invited to to North America for an extensive concert tour. She will give recitals, featuring works from 2 CDs recorded together, with pianist Ventis Zilberts in:

Andra Darzins´ new CD „Reflections“ has been released in May 2015. On this CD Andra Darzins has recorded some of her favourite works by Bloch, Britten, Clarke, Enescu, Schumann and Vaughan-Williams, together with pianist Ventis Zilberts.

Top Ten in the Radio
In 2014 Andra Darzins was voted into the „Top 10“ of the Latvian Classical Music Station „Radio Klassika“.
New album release with the SWR Vokalensemble
The german label Hänssler Classic will soon release a CD where Andra Darzins is playing together with the SWR Vokalensemble a work by Morton Feldman “The Rothko Chapel”. The album with the title “America” is available from March 10.

New CD release 2013
In October 2013 the new album “Latvian Impressions Vol. 2” has been released by the label Animato. Andra Darzins has recorded 11 pieces by Latvian composers, nine of them are transcriptions by herself for viola from violin or cello originals.
